Remembering Adjusting to the Buffalo Snow in 1973. During the Buffalo Bills' 37-13 victory over the visiting New England Patriots on December 9, 1973 (in the photo), a constant snowfall tested the mettle of the players. But one player was seemingly more prepared than his opponents. “O.J. Simpson was flat-footed,” recalled Buffalo offensive guard Joe DeLamielleure. “His arches were flat. He was a flat-footed guy. He had the widest feet that you would see for a running back. And he could run in the mud and in the snow. While other guys were slipping and sliding in a half-foot of snow on the field, O.J. could plant and cut as if it were dry as a bone out there. So, whenever it snowed, we’re thinking, ‘Damn! He (Simpson) is going to have a big game.’" You can read more about the snow-filled game in my upcoming book "The 2,003-Yard Odyssey: The Juice, The Electric Company, and an Epic Run for a Record." It comes out a week from today, but you can preorder it on Amazon.com today!
